On Monday the 5th of December, Year 5 went on a trip to Highclere castle. On Monday, we came into school to prepare for the trip. We set off at 9:30 am and we arrived about 45 minutes later.
We were placed into 4 groups then we had a snack and set of in our groups. First, we went to the garden, the tour guides told us that the garden was 700 acres long. While we were walking through the garden, the tour guide told us that Downtown abbey was filmed there and that Lord Carnarvon was buried on top of Beacon Hill.
We went into an exhibition about Ancient Egyptians with artefacts like pots and combs. We saw a replica of Tutankhamun’s tomb. We saw a lot Tutankhamun’s treasures such as a replica of his sarcophagus.
Next, we went into a room were you lifted up flaps and peered to see replicas of Tutankhamun’s most valuable treasures. After, we had finished in the exhibition we went into the activity room. We dressed up as pharaohs and stamped our names in hieroglyphs. We then had lunch and went back to school.
